BIRTH 31 OCTOBER 1900

Born at 52 Hanover  Street, Prahran, son of Joseph and Charlotte JOACHIM (formerly Cohen).

 

 

Change of name

 

On February 10th. 1949, Ernest and Leslie Joachim and their respective families changed their surname by deed poll from JOACHIM to ‘JAMES’.

Ernest attended Windsor Primary School in Hornsby Street Prahran.

MARRIAGE

 

Ernest Abraham JOACHIM married Beryl Phyllis BERKMAN, daughter of Emanuel BERKMAN and Eva WOLFSON on February 22nd. 1937 at The Great Synagogue Sydney

The couple met at a party at Barney BERKOWITZ’S place. Barney married Beryl’s sister Ada BERKMAN.

The wedding reception was held at The Hotel Australia in Sydney.

They honeymooned in the Blue Mountains in Katoomba, New South Wales.

DEATH

 

Ernest JAMES died on May 7th, 1984 at St Francis Xavier Cabrini Hospital, Malvern.

Cause of death; Cardiogenic shock – minutes; myocardial infarct - 8 days; ischemic heart disease – years; systemic hypertension -  years.

 

Ernest was buried on May 8th, 1984 at the Chevra Kadisha Cemetery Springvale, Victoria, Australia.
